about
This is the last song I recorded before moving from Zambia in 2018. This was initially a demo, and I tried to re-record the song a few times, but it never sounded to my ears as good as the original. I keep stumbling across it, and I love it and so I'm sharing it with you.
One of my favorite memories of living in Zambia was driving in rural areas and seeing villages in all their beauty and simplicity. That lifestyle always made me wonder about the type of lifestyle that we seem to idolize in the West, which is consumed with business, planning, and future thinking. I wondered if because I was raised in the Western world, I struggled to be in the present moment, something I felt like many of the people in Zambia I knew closely could.
I wrote this song as a reminder that I know "now", meaning I am existing and living now, whereas I don't know then; or when, or the future. The ability to be present and enjoy the moment is something I am continuously seeking to grow in. If you think about it, it is a type of insanity to not cherish right now.
I hope you enjoy the song, it is about five years old to me, but I hope it strikes you as new and refreshing.
